The sixth stage of grief--discomforrt
"Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" is the Christmas version of "The Giving Tree"--people will Other you and shit on you until they discover they need you, but then you have the option of being the bigger person.
I find myself avoiding the word 'memorial' when people ask me what I'm doing this weekend. I feel doubly awkward in that I am uncomfortable receiving their well meant condolences and uncomfortable putting people who I don't know as well/at all into an awkward overly personal situation.
Back has not given up, an hour in, and I find myself constantly trying to relax into the pain instead of tensing against it. And yes, Rose, I expect that's the universe trying to give me a metaphorical lesson. Life can suck on it for the immediate future.
