Is it gonna be right, is it gonna be the best?
Another up-until-six night. At least I had company this time.
I did not initially plan to see MonkeyBone. I got this really bad 'Cool World' vibe off of it, even with Brendan Frasier in it. (He's adorable, and he's very pleasing as an actor.) Wonderful marvelous Megs twisted my arm, though, and we caught a late showing. I laughed. Often. There was cartoon slapstick, there was subtle and understated humour. And there were a few things that I suspect of being digs at CW.
Then we dragged Tony back here to play several versions of Mao, and I got to sit and watch a few more episodes of Babylon 5. Megs has reached the stretch of episodes where, when I watched them, every episode I saw I said 'God Damn this is the best episode I've ever seen' until I saw the next one. Alas, very soon after that I had to move out of Erik's house and lost access to the tapes. So soon I'll be getting to see stuff I haven't seen before.
I have a copy of Asimov's Shakespeare book in the WC (ironic that the acronym is the mirror image of the one for 'Cool World', non?) for 'periodic reading' and am terribly pleased by how smart and clever the man is and how engaging his writing. Plus I'm learning lots of new stuff, like the Cranes of Ibycus which appear to be a precursor to one of my favourite McKennit songs (and a fairy tale), the Bonny Swans.
