Some days it's not worth chewing through the leather straps.

While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the President will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation.

It's a good thing that witch-hunting Planned Parenthood in the name of Savin' the Babies has nothing to do with controversial issues that sharply divide the nation.

Dick.

On the other hand, that's the best that the GOP can manage? That's pretty weak for anti-gay rhetoric.

And the answer is pretty easy: now is the time because there are active lawsuits challenging the law, which the government has to choose to defend or not. And the attourney general's office rarely has much to do with the budget, so it's hardly a distraction for the same people.

Well, you know, the Planned Parenthood witchhunt was about whether there would be any federal funding, so that's totally about the budget.

And, of course, Obama's response could be "It would cost federal funds to defend against these lawsuits challenging the law, so this is totally about the budget too." Perhaps with a "Nyah, so there" at the end, perhaps not.

Most days I like that we have a President who keeps it classy, but sometimes, just once in a while you understand, I would like him to pull something like the above. I am saddened that he won't.
