Workin' in a coal mine, goin' down down

So the boom finally dropped late yesterday afternoon. As of tomorrow my hours at work are 8:15 to 4:00; we're shaving 45 minutes off the beginning and end times, and since there's still the half hour deducted for lunch, it comes out to working about 13 days in a pay period instead of 14.
Sure as hell beats getting laid off.

In other news, it looks like I will indeed start accruing vacation time next week, I just won't get to actually use it for another six months. They'll hold the hours in a safe place for me until August 27th.

Aigh. Sorry, hun. The money situation of course sucks, but, on the bright side, that's another hour and a half free time per day for you to de-stress and de-tox.

Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick any day. It could have been a lot worse. If the money thing gets you desperate down the road, you could check and see if the costume people need seasonal help, and then squirrel away the money.

I hope you're still with them on August 27th to take the vacation.
