The politics of mmmmm feelin' good

Okay, so I apparently overshared this morning.
I'll stick to polemic and rhetoric.

http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20030922&s=falk

I read this article, about a global advisory body, and thought to myself "Well, um, if we want to spread democracy, then this sounds like a good thing, right?"
Beyond that I'm not certain of my impressions on the idea.

Day..... Seventeen... plus thirty.... carry the..... Fifty-Two
In Operation Supreme Court Freedom.
Number of liberal Supreme Court Justices struck dead or retired:0

This leads us to one of two conclusions, Pat.
1: God decided that you just haven't earned it yet, baby.
Of course, God being Omniscient, that means he knew all along you were going to fail and decided to let the bad judges stay in office despite their evil intent toward this country and its God-fearing inhabitants.
2: No matter how hard you pray, God doesn't give a rat's ass about who's on the Supreme Court.
It'd sure explain how Clarence Thomas avoids getting struck by lightning.

Hmm, I don't think there is any such thing as over-sharing. We, the readers, are guests in your personal playground here. I think "over-sharing" is a marketing term invented by the Want To Be Sort Of Your Friend When It's Convenient And Fun Advisory Board.

Anyway. for my US$0.02 I would much rather read about what someone else thinks, feels or believes than something neat he/she found on a piece of paper that day.

I have to agree that the all links, all the times post are the ones I find tedious.

Trust me, I can do polemic and rhetoric without the links. (:
It's just that sometimes it makes it easier to discuss matters if there's a page I can point to and say "This is what I'm talking about."

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2003-09-16 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
I think I've covered what I think or feel in both these entries. (:
As far as the link, I'm not sure yet what I think and presented it to collect opinions. I mean, I know we think Democracy is good, but I strongly suspect some people will think this sort of Democracy is Very Very Bad. I saw it as a contribution to the discussion rather than 'Here is something to go look at so I don't have to say anything', or at least a 'This is something that is on my mind'.

Oh, come on. Oversharing would be a detailed play-by-play. By comparison, you were tasteful and restrained. :-)
(Or maybe I just read too much fanfiction, so my perceptions are skewed...)

and... I prefer to believe that God has a great sense of humor. Particularly when it comes to our friend Pat. See, Pat claims to be associated with God... God therefore makes certain to leave him with plenty to rant about. ;-)

Hey, I thought you undershared. I wanted to know who in specific you were talking about. ;)

[identity profile] spenceraloysius.livejournal.com 2003-09-16 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
Me too! I see nothing ire inspiring.

[identity profile] ambar.livejournal.com 2003-09-16 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I've noticed myself that the postings I put the most work and/or emotion into rarely draw comments. Throw up one offhanded link and everyone has something to say about it. Puzzling.

[identity profile] spenceraloysius.livejournal.com 2003-09-16 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
I read something in a random livejournal (well, it was linked to some lj friend's page, but I don't remember which now) that people feel uncomfortable commenting on deeply emotional issues so those entries get the least amount of feedback. Yet, I've also seen many people, including myself, wanting feedback on emotional or serious issues. It is an unrewarding dichotomy.

Operation Supreme Court Freedom

snicker.

The Nation link is apparently for subscribers only. Alas.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2003-09-16 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw. Suck. I may have to post again, with a cut and paste, once I've decided how I feel about global democracy.

Democracy is not a friend of the left.

Don't know if this is still true, I heard it on the radio this afternoon. Apparently Hurrican Isabel is headed directly for Virginia Beach, VA, home of Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcast Network. Robertson has started a prayer drive to divert the hurricane.

I hope it works as well as the one for the Supreme Court has.

Hee hee hee. I knew there was a reason I loved you. Even if it is our shared sick sense of SchadenFreude.
