In the washing of the water, will you take it all away?

The word 'trayf' came up in a discussion recently, and I quickly explained the kosher/trayf division and that led me to thinking again about the commonalities between Jewish and Romani societies which reminded me I wanted a tag to this page somewhere that I could find it.

Are you interested in Romani culture? I can recommend some excellent resources...

I'm always interested in adding more information. (: I started out with Sway's Familiar Strangers and have some collected stories, have a few collected texts and websites. I'm always skeptical though, because of the whole "Let's lie to the gajo anthropologist and see if he buys it" phenomenon.

Or a possible more dangerous variant called "I, gajo anthropologist, know more about your culture than you do. So if I find that you aren't quaint enough or you don't fit in with my preconcieved notions, I will change what I need to." So don't bother reading Isabel Fonseca. :-) I will e-mail you with more on this later...

This is one of the respected sites, though: PATRIN http://www.geocities.com/Paris/5121/patrin.htm
