Days go by, and still I think of you
Sunday... was... me sleeping until, like, one or two in the afternoon because I drank tea at work and so was up far too late. Plus it's the only day of the week I can sleep past nine or ten so why not take advantage of it?(Aside from the fact that as usual I had a huge to-do list and by the time I woke up half the day was gone.
I made baked cheesy vegetable dish from the steamed broccoli and cauliflower the housemate had encouraged me to dispose of, and took it to Rancho Huevo for Doctor Who night, along with some sharp cheddar and a cocoa hazelnut spread from TJ's and my notebook. I finally felt properly involved, because I brought food and crafting materials to a social event. (:
Unfortunately, while I was walking to the car to get the shopping bag full of goodies, I did *something* to my Achilles tendon. The best guess I can make is that the material of my boot wrinkled and pinched it. The foot would not support me, and I ended up spending most of the night icing it and trying not to extend the tendon. This did not stop me from enjoying naked Jack butt however. The evening was still very pleasant, and I proposed marriage and got smooches.
Monday, the leg was better but still stiff and not happy. I called Katchoo_Too and said I don't want to walk a lot--can we have lunch on this side of the world? And she said yes because she likes me and she even drove. So we had lunch and chatted.
Then I got my hotel rooms for OryCon so it's now official. It's on.
I was supposed to have a permanent crown on at the dentist's office, but they were running late and so I said 'would it make things easier for you if I came in tomorrow morning before work?' and they said dear god yes, so we rescheduled.
I had hoped to have birthday dinner with Princess_Mei but plans fell through (maybe next Monday night?) and so I drove down to Soquel to see Aelfsciene. I'd planned to do it once before, but driving a long distance to a new place over Hwy 17 daunted me. I have since driven on Hwy 17 and like it a lot--in fact, Monday afternoon I pulled in behind a truck so I could drive more slowly and enjoy the world. It reminds me of being back home, the Pacific mountains stay pretty similar even this far south.
Traffic was pretty decent, and I even beat the scholar home from her studies. We went to get her tickets for the Dar concert, and we strolled around downtown Santa Cruz. I resisted the siren call of Discount Records and just admired things. But the next stop was Logos, and I had a major retail accident there. I called the federal government and asked them to declare a disaster and send in troops. I also discovered that Logos was the shop where I bought my copy of Pretty Hate Machine fifteen years ago, just before my friend Sami and I drove across country from Santa Cruz to Philadelphia. So that was kind of weird. (:
By then we were stahvin so we went to Falafel house and had very yummy dinner and then since we were naughty monkeys we went to a crepery and had a banana and nutella crepe which was amazing.
Driving home on 17, I could no longer see it but I could smell the evergreens and earth and it would have been nicer if there was less traffic and dimmer headlights but it was still a lovely evening and I may have to do it again in the near future. Oh! Plus I got a grapefruity candle, and some delightful conversation.
And today the ankle was still mildly swollen but the pain was much diminished and so long as I don't attempt to actually move the tendon it seems perfectly happy. But my knee and back are getting annoyed at having to compensate. And my mouth is really really sore. And I have to be at work all night.
So, all in all, I have to say that I much prefer weekends.
next monday night
Um... so what is this?
The evening was still very pleasant, and I proposed marriage and got smooches.
You're getting married? Or did I totally misunderstand?

Re: next monday night
Nah. I proposed, and was rewarded for my thoughtfulness despite being turned down. (:
Re: next monday night
is a pretty good address to find me at.
my phone number hasn't changed but I swear this house gets no reception.
So who is this lovely young lady you proposed to? Was it serious? Is she nice?
Does she play dress up?

Re: next monday night
I live. I did get your email, I'm compiling a list of dates that I will likely not be able to make hockey games due to prior commitment. I've been trying to keep up on livejournal and it sounds as if you're still liking Santa Cruz.
November 19th sounds fine, I'll set the ticket aside for you. I'm pretty easy going with hockey this season, I want to see the games but I'll share as much as I can.
I'm a little busy with sewing of late, and a friend of mine got me hooked on Bastle Star Galactica. I love Starbuck and I'm a big Sharon fan.
And Number 6 the blond Cylon scares me. Number 6, heh, I wonder if that is in deference to the Prisoner.

Re: next monday night
And mmm, BSG. Definitely my favorite show right now, it supplanted Lost pretty easily (not that I don't still love that, but). Starbuck is my heeeeeero.
I was totally surprised by absolutely loving Tricia Helfer (6's actor) when she spoke at the BSG con in June; Katee (Starbuck) left me a little cold, but Tricia was interested and smart and engaging, and that was very cool. And Jamie Bamber is just as gorgeous in person. o.O

And I'd like to second Aelf's cry of SHE LIVES!?!
