Peace Train's a holy roller

I may be speaking from a white male position of power and entrenchment. But I think Rep. Cynthia McKinney is all kinds of wrong. From reports I've seen, the officer was doing his job and keeping the building secure. She strikes me as somebody who's insecure and resents that people don't treat her to the respect she feels entitled to.

I've now got Peace Train stuck in my head... I love Cat Stevens, but that one song gets stuck in my head for days...

I agree with you about McKinney. She should totally STFU.

Whereas usually for me it's the 10.000 Maniacs version that gets stuck in my head. Or at least phrases of it.

I haven't even heard that one, and I'm a 10,000 Maniacs fan.

Oh! It's on the earlier version of 'In My Tribe'. They pulled it later, after the mess with Salman Rushdie. I don't know if they replaced it with something else or not.

I can loan it to you or play it or even put it on the web page, as you like.

Whichever is easier for you. ;-)

The pork roast was AWESOME, though devoured by our household. Not enough left to share :( I'm sorry.

Hee. I'm glad it was enjoyed.

If you dig apricots, you should try the recipe sometime.

I'm reserving judgement on the whole thing, without actually having seen the incident or having a plethora of believable witnesses, it's hard to say. I wasn't there so I don't know what went down. I will say, though, that she's coming off really poorly in the press, but I'm not sure if that's really her or the media's love for bashing all things Democratic.

[identity profile] lilisonna.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
No. She's a flaming idiot. I live in her state; used to live in her district. She's a nutcase.

For a long time, I despaired because Georgia had both Bob Barr and Cynthia McKinney as House Reps, but at least they were on opposite sides of the insanity spectrum. Then Barr retired and gained a (albeit fairly small) clue.

That, however, makes an excellent point. She's still an idiot, but that doesn't really excuse the biased questioning and treatement.

[identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's what I mean. The thing is I'm not one of her constituents, I don't know her past, how she's behaved, how well she understands and caters to those she represents. And I suspect a whole lot of people who are passing judgement on her don't either. If the folks who voted her in think she's acting like a nut case then they sure know what to do about her. The rest of us, though, shouldn't really have much of a say in it.

I'm trying to do the same thing about Katherine Harris, I think the stories of her dementia might be getting a little too much play right now. I begin to smell a Rove...

Yeah, I've made no secret about my opinions of the mainstream media and their pwnership.
