(no subject)

I've been feeling.... off center ever since the trip down south. I'm not sure whether I just threw my schedule out of kilter and I'm so delicate that that was all it took (Oo! What's that hard and lumpy thing under all these mattresses?) or if I'm getting sick.

Speaking of which. It's *very* unnerving to be re-reading the beginning of 'The Stand' (the new one, with the much much longer opening) while headachey and congested and sneezing.

I have lots of things that need to be read, that need to be sorted, that need to be tended to, and I think it's bugging me more than usual.

Also, I want a digital camera. Anybody with advice/direction/pointers feel free to comment.

Get at least 5 megapixels if you plan on doing anything other than posting online. I'm anti-Kodak (I simply cannot take a non-blurry picture, no matter what I try).

What sort of thing will you use the camera for?

Actually, it'll probably be mostly for online stuff, or cover art for mix CDs. But yeah, I'm a snob and was raised on analog photography so I'd have a hard time settling for something with puny resolution.

advice/pointers: your housemate has one that doesn't get much use. :)

oooo. Has she been happy with it, aside from the lack of use?

I've had to play with the settings on it some because I have a pretty extreme range of photographic targets (knitting close-ups, for some reason, takes a completely different setting than hockey players during warm-ups), but I've been pleased with it since figuring these things out.

It's relatively compact, easy to upload, and available for the borrowing.

Yay! Duly noted. (:

(0) Los Angeles shoves many people off-center. I grew up there. You do the math.

(1) Were you ever on-center to start with?

(2) Digital camera: I like my Canon PowerShot A80. It's certainly not the latest technology but it gets the job done and is not prohibitively priced. Just make sure you buy a decent CF card to go with it; they give you a 32MB card which has about as much capacity as a roll of film. I bought a 1GB card and I haven't had capacity problems yet.

(0) I was hoping to avoid that by flying into Ontario.
(1) I'm pretty sure I've had my moments of lucidity at least.
(2) Extra memory. Check. CF is... compact flash I'm betting.

Get one with pixels. I've heard pixels are a good feature. :P

Have a good weekend :)

Bah! Pixels! I want MEGAPIXELS!
(And I get to have a good weekend in just a couple of days! I get to go see BHA dance!)

I /totally/ recommend myproductadvisor.com as a place to start.

Also, if you go back a few entries on my journal, several people point out some excellent review sites. :)
