The dice were loaded from the start

So, having gotten as far as the Spin Doctors in my ripping process (and coming to their song that references Guildenstern and Rosencrantz) I started work on a mix collecting songs that reference Shakespeare.
I think I've opted against using the ballets and operas based on his plays, but I may use tracks from Romeo + Juliet, or Richard III. I've also got "When Love Speaks" that I may pull a track from.
Feel free to pile on with any suggestions of your own.
I was going to make a list of the stuff I've already grabbed (I don't own a copy of "I Am the Walrus"...) but I can't figure out where iTunes stores their playlists and I'm not sure I feel like typing it all out by hand. That may change because I'm bored. Currently at seventeen tracks, and I'll probably cull one of the two Sting tracks and one of the two Indigo Girls tracks.

Dire Straits: Romeo & Juliet

"A lovestruck romeo sings a streets a serenade
Laying everybody low with me a lovesong that he made
Finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it?"

*swoon*

It was so good a choice that it made the subject to the post. You have such excellent taste.

Now, see, that's what I was thinking about you when I read the post. :)

You can right-click on the playlist and choose "Export song list" and it will create a .txt file... does that help?

Wow, yes!

Speaking of music.

I have Paris Hilton's 'Stars Are Blind' stuck in my head.

I don't know how I feel about this.

Ummmm. If it's stuck in your head then at least it's not out in the street making trouble?

You should also be able to just copy and paste the playlist from iTunes into any text or Word file.

As to the theme, I will think on that over the course of the day. :-)

If you remove all the fields that aren't name or artist you'll have a much easier time with the list.

I've taken to backing up the playlists on my ipod this way.

I also found an app that lets me export playlists as HTML, so if it's a list I am very fond of, I post it to my website. :-)

The Beatles' "I Am The Walrus" has large chunks of a BBC radio production of KING LEAR playing in the background towards the end. ("...sit you down, father, rest you...")

I shall have a think to see if I can come up with any more.

(Here via [livejournal.com profile] garoumush's friends, btw.)

Course, if I read your post properly I'd see you already had that one. Sigh.

Actually, I *don't*. That was the problem. (I have/had all the major Beatles releases on vinyl/cassette and have been slow to transfer them to CD.) But yeah, I know that there's Leary goodness toward the end. (:

I may have it in my Best of/Hits/Anthology whatever. I'll check for it tonight if you remind me.

I have no idea how I missed this post earlier.

But, if you're looking for tracks to fill this out, I'm pretty sure I have an mp3 ripped of a Samantha Fox song with the line "If music be the food of love, play on" as part of its lyrics.

I actually like it quite a bit.
