My only friend, the end.

Boo Yah! After ... I think four years, I have finally finished ripping all my CDs to the hard drive! Monumentous, baby! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! It's done! Ten thousand files, forty gigs, Daddy-O! In days to come, children will look upon Warren Zevon's "Looking for the Next Best Thing" with a sense of reverent awe, and recognize it as the Omega, the Zenith, the Landmark that it truly is.

Um. Well, done except for all my 'classical' discs. And the DVDs that Moses sent me. And the music Cindy left on the hard drive. And the albums I need to replace that I used to own and have gone missing. But. Other than that. whee!

Yay!!!!

(Now back up your hard drive!)

Ooo. Yeah, I should do that.

Murphy's law and all... Plus it's just not a bad idea.

*snicker*

It's a great sense of accomplishment, I'm sure, but my first thought was: with you? It'll never actually be done.

And then I read the fine-print. ;)

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty accomplished. I just try to ignore that queue and say One Small Step For Man.

That's the best way to think of it. Reaching goals is good!

There's always a catch, isn't there?!

Now of course, you know, you can no longer buy/borrow/beg any new CDs, because then you'll snap back to the "unfinished" state. :-)

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2006-08-16 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. I'll still be finished with ripping *my* CDs. And if I buy a new one, it'll have a one-week grace period during which I listen to it and decide what gets ripped and what gets left behind. (It's like The Rapture.)

Can I request a mix-CD for my birthday? Pretty please?!

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You know that with me you can pretty much request anything you want. (:
Two things: Give me whatever guidelines you have (Is there a mix I've already made that you want? Something custom?) and right now my CD drive is unable to read CDs. I don't know if it can burn them or not. I need to check the wiring and see if it needs to be replaced. So it may not be ready in time for dinner on Sunday.
