Okay, I'm watching the news (sort of) with the sound off, Channel 11 NBC local news. There's a shot of a United plane with smoke all around it, then a shot of the Seattle dockyards and then the Mineta San Jose airport with a bunch of emergency vehicles in front of it.
Anybody have any idea what this is about?

I think it's just Arnie's security theater with the California Guard. Assigning them to patrol airports.

Okay, so there probably hasn't been any major security breach or something. This is good, as I'd like to fly to Seattle tomorrow.
PS: Do you have a schedule that allows you to go to lunch during the week?

I do! And lunch would be an excellent thing.

Where would lunch be likely to be? San Jose?

I'm working in Palo Alto at Stanford, so anywhere around there or Mountain View would work!

That's much more convenient for me. (: When I get back from Seattle, I can think more about an actual day, but I don't see why any Wed-Sat shouldn't be feasible.

Excellent plan! Thursdays or Saturdays generally work well for me.

The Seattle dockyards thing is that two containers arriving from Pakistan caught the attention of explosives-detecting dogs, and that the containers apparently did not contain what was listed on the manifest. So they cleared out the waterfront area just in case.

And it all begins to fall into place! Hah!
As much as I hate having the television on just to have it on, having it on with the sound off is occasionally even more maddening.
