I've just done a cursory web search on how to file paperwork to form an Exploratory Committee which would spend money to determine the feasibility of running for president. No luck yet. Lots of articles about people who have done it, though. I suppose I could simply ask them how it's done.

Step One is getting some very rich and powerful people to back you.

Look at Gavin Newsom, who was well on the way to becoming President before this latest scandal. (And he may just get there anyway.) Gavin has some very wealthy and powerful friends.

And you're powerful! You have a newspaper column! And a blog!
But there's also official paperwork that gives you legal permission to raise money to then spend on fundraisers and determining the feasibility of actually campaigning for president.
Maybe I should call Gavin and offer to be his friend if he backs my bid.
