Have you seen her, have you heard?

Friday question delayed for panic. I just got a $1000 dental bill instead of the expected $100, and it looks like the office is closed on Fridays.
Feel free to ask me a question, but the only question I have right now is "WTF?"

Before or after insurance?

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
After insurance. Which is part of the problem--apparently Delta said 'we will not cover the work on this tooth because work was done on it two years ago and we paid for that'. More news as the situation evolves.

Oh good fucking lord.

I hate hate hate hate hate hate HATE HATE HATE insurance.

Just so you know.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing is? I don't remember having any work done two years ago.

[identity profile] roseneko.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's above and beyond the usual insurance douchebaggery. Best of luck getting it sorted out...

I'm hoping someone just misplaced a decimal point.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, no. It's a matter of 'Delta said they weren't going to cover this, because they say you had work done on that tooth two years ago'.
I'm looking for more information now.

[identity profile] tattermuffin.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good gods. I hope you can work it out ok!

[identity profile] kiras.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh... 'cause nothing could possibly have gone wrong with the same tooth within two years? WTF???

[identity profile] phillipalden.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it's a mere accounting error.

[identity profile] l2g.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, really, look at it from their point of view. What's the point of running a health insurance company if people are always going to expect you to PAY for them being sick?

Sarcasm, of course.

I am currently without any kind of medical insurance because (a) I'm unemployed; (b) I didn't keep current on my old company's COBRA plan; (c) my wife is in the middle of a legal battle involving HER health plan, thus I can't get in on it (not that I trust her health care provider any further than I can throw it, at this point); and (d) when I tried to apply for my own health insurance, I was turned down because in the previous 5 years I'd gone to an ER for chest pains, even though the ER personnel determined unequivocally that I had no cardiovascular problems.

Canadians may have their own belly-aches about their medical system, but I've yet to be convinced that it isn't better than ours.

P.S. Okay, I have a question for you: Is you am a dog?

[identity profile] l2g.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Correction, just to be precise: They didn't determine unequivocally that I had no cardiovascular problems. What they determined unequivocally was that my chest pains weren't from a heart attack.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Now, you see, it's that sloppy lack of precision that forces me to also refuse to insure you.
(Also, I think the more appropriate question here would be Is you is or Is you ain't my baby? Or possibly What up, Dog?)
