cyrano: (Address Me)

If I don't say anything, well, how long will it be this way?

Since many of you may be taking the day off tomorrow, IFIAYAQ Early Edition!
(West coasters, you've got about eight hours.)

Guildenstern: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

Player: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.

This week's question:
What do you assume?
What's *your* 'currency of living'?

I assume that people are logical about their emotions. I am often wrong about that, but I assume it anyway. If you love someone, it seems logical that you'd act on that. If you're interested in them romantically, that you'd actually *show* some interest in getting to know them. That sort of thing.

I assume dialectics. Most human patterns can be described that way-- society vs. individualism, work vs. play, brain vs. libido, immediate vs. forethought. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis.

I assume people generally are as emotionally and intellectually intelligent as I am...

...

...

...this is why assumptions are bad!

The currency of living? ...hope. Because once hope is gone, what is left but jaded reality, global warming and stupid people?

I assume the worst in people (though I'm very optimistic about the future).

Love and good karma.

I assume that if I work hard enough at something and am interested enough, that I will learn something and become better for it.

My currency of living is humor.

I assume that we are not the only intelligent life in the galaxy, and that the Drake Equation as presented by Mr. Drake, is horseshit.

My currency of living is delicious, delicious pig butt.

(Yes, I know he incorrectly describes bacon.)

(But the phrase is hilarious.)
