It's a long way down
Still feeling run down tired and sore. Told the boss I felt 'better' and later had to clarify that "I said better, not good."
However, I just got word from the BayCon Firefly folks. They not only took my first request for a character, they also took some of my plot/character suggestions.
(The sign up form said "Which of these roles are you most interested in? Also, assign them four personality traits or goals. If we like them we may use them" Windrose can attest that I took that very seriously, crafting items that would show them what an expert storysmither I could be and what an asset to the game I would prove. Because that's the kind of neurotic paranoia combined with hubris *I* have.)
I'm not sure if I'm from the core or the rim, so I haven't yet settled on my accent. (:
I'm hoping to find somebody running tabletop games at BayCon that I can get in on.
And I just dropped mail into the post to close down yet another credit card, a month earlier than expected.
Yesterday I had a lovely and productive conversation with Tamago about airship pirates and now I just need to try and visit a few Army/Navy surplus stores to try and find as much pre-fab costume makings as I can.
Last night there was more talk about me running RPGs, and I have even more to juggle now.
I already have tomorrow's question, and given the success of last week's 'double size issue' I'm tempted to go online early with this one.
Saturday is already packed full of socializing. I will spend the day surrounded by attractive women.

So on the Baycon note
The Gms of the Ji Dian game are great. Sylvan was one of my ushers, and Rory is working in my department at Baycon. I'm not at all surprised that they wanted you in the game.
On the subject of other games, have you thought about entering the Iron Game competition? It runs out of the gaming room starting Saturday morning. Like Iron Chef, you are given one secret ingredient that has to be in every game, and all the aspiring game creators have twenty four hours to create a new game, including the special ingredient (for example, a diceless system, or character switching) and then Sunday they are all played in the gaming room and judged.
Even if you don't want to make one, you can still go playtest them. The guy who runs the gaming room, Michael, is a great guy. They're all excited about it. The gaming room runs 24 hours a day and they have collections of card games, tabletop games and construction games. It's a great place.
We were down the hall from them at Westercon and Baycon last year and they were fun to stop by and visit.
Re: So on the Baycon note
I'm more than happy to take advice from experienced con attendees, always! Thank you.
Re: So on the Baycon note
You'll have questions like planet of origin once you get your packet at Con. The guy playing Evan Tran is a great role-player and you'll be connected to some other great folks, too.
Oh, and we will be taking photos of players and posting them in the room with character names to help with the finding and/or recognizing of other characters.
See you in couple weeks!
Jim aka Sylvan
Re: So on the Baycon note
I am, in fact, in the midst of a list of questions that I'll be looking for in my packet, and am trying to build a backstory flexible enough to be dismantled for parts when I get the packet. (:
(My first thought was "Where is he from? If they don't tell me what world he's from.... then he's from one of the Core planets but he pretends he's from the rim because customers find that rustic charm attractive. Yeah! That'll work!)
