The joys of modern technology

So in order to get tickets to a popular movie and figure I'm actually going to *get* said tickets, I feel like I have to order them in advance.
The online order form says "Hey! Usually we charge $2 per ticket as a Convenience Fee. But if you agree to get spam mail from us, we'll reduce that to only $1 per ticket!"
Fine. Whatever.
Oh, wait.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we were temporarily unable to verify your on-line seat reservation because our special high-speed communication link to the theatre has been interrupted.

As a result, we are unable to verify that the seats you requested are still available.

We expect to resolve this problem very soon.

In the meantime, please visit the theatre to purchase your tickets, or try again later. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Are you *trying* to piss me off, at this point?

If you succeed in ticketquest, can you pick me up one?

Sure thing.

I assume that you have a junk-mail address you can route the spam to?

"Convenience Fees" piss me off too. I mean, c'mon - it's just as much of a convenience for the venue as it is for you, but somehow you're expected to compensate them? Maybe back in the day when bandwidth was horrendously expensive and finding people who knew their stuff about computers was tough, but these days? Bah.

Unfortunately, I didn't use that account, because I actually need to see when they email me with ticket information. However, I have half a dozen more or less disposable Yahoo! address, and I used fbi419team@yahoo.com because it currently doesn't see much mail traffic. (:

And yes, mostly because TicketMaster has enough of a monopoly that they can continue to play this BS game, they can still get away with it. However, I did end up cancelling a credit card because they had an $8 'handling fee' if you paid over the web as opposed to mailing a check to their office which had to be processed and deposited.

Ticketmaster horks me off.
