Our little hide away beneath the waves

I'm taking Amanda to the beach tomorrow. I figure that to get the proper beachly tone, I'll probably end up in Pacifica or Half Moon Bay. Maybe Ocean Beach.

What would you suggest, locals? Where do you mean when you say "I'm going to the beach"?

Historically, from my childhood, "going to the beach" meant Seacliff or New Brighton or Aptos, one of the Santa Cruz area beaches, but not Santa Cruz itself.

The last time I went to the beach we ended up in Half Moon Bay almost by accident and a public beach just the other side of the hill.

If you hit half moon bay, take a coat :)

From here, I usually head to santa cruz or down to monterey. If I were farther north, I would say Dillon's beach.

"Going to the beach" for me usually means Santa Cruz.

When we were there, "going to the beach" meant Santa Cruz and/or Capitola.

My dog, Max, and I, love the Marin Highlands on the Marin side of the Golden Gate Bridge. If you drive up the road that parallels the coast, you get a beautiful view of the bridge, the gate, and the City.

When you get out of the car you can walk/hike on trails that take you to old WWII military emplacements. The more you explore, (by driving from area to area,) the more cool stuff you see.

It might be funny, but whenever I say "I'm going to the beach" I usually mean I'm leaving for Turkey or Greece. I simply love the Mediterranean! :)

That sounds excellent. Amanda, pack up. We're gonna go to Greece.
(Bonus: European beaches often means 'boobies'!)
