cyrano: (Day Off)

I used to think that the day would never come

*shudder*
I actually found myself contemplating logging in to check work email.
I'm going to become one of *those* people.

As long as you believe it's generally Not To Be Done, you'll be fine. Sometimes it has to be done in the interest of saving your sanity before the shit hits the fan the following morning. I refuse to check mine in any circumstances other than those (for something specific that I know is looming and that other people have worked on after I was last in).

Fingers crossed, then. (:

Mine comes to my phone, but no one works on the weekend, so it's no big deal.

Unlike when I was working in Silicon Valley, where I was expected to be on call all the damned time.

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid--ever since I started working in technology, I've been aware of how close to eight hours a day I'm working. I'm not a dick about it, and will often put in extra time when something needs to get done. But I don't pack my work computer home every night 'just in case' or 'to check a few emails in the evening'. It's like the five year plan--once I establish that I'm okay with doing that, it becomes the new 'eight hour day'. And so it goes.
