cyrano: (Bringing Skeksi back)

augh. augh. augh.

Still no word on the test. Today is the day of mad laundries and listmaking and packing, because tomorrow is the day of leaving. There is no test tonight. One of the guys in Stats class volunteered to take notes for me while I'm gone. Yay.

Also? Possibly a more reviewy review later but Florence + the Machines "Lungs" has been in the CD player for all of 20 hours and I listen to it LOUD. For some reason it reminds me of Siouxsie.

If the prof didn't have the test on time, I think you have a very good argument for being able to take it whenever you're available (if you can't take it at whatever time he reschedules). It's not reasonable for him to assume that students don't have lives. Have you poked him about it directly, via email or whatever, including a mention of the fact that you're going to be gone through [date]? It would be good butt-covering, if nothing else.

I haven't yet, on the theory that he's well aware that we're waiting for this information, but as time moves on I have been leaning further in that direction. I'll do that before I leave this morning.

How... How can someone of such fine taste as yourself compare that screeching trauma-inducing harridan with the divine Siouxsie? :(

I don't know her--she may be a bossy old woman in real life--so I'll grant 'harridan'. But screeching? Really?
And as soon as I figure out why, I will definitely let you know.

Maybe "bellowing" is closer to it; in any case there's an awful lot of noise and she won't shut up. It's difficult. She's on tv all the time. She's on the radio in every public space. The streets are awash with Florence clones. She couldn't hit a note with a rocket launcher. I hate her so much.

You should move here. (:
Until rcrdlbl.com started sending me free singles, I'd never heard of her.

Florence + the Machines

Kimmi is in love with her. She plays it in the kitchen while she's cooking. I don't particularly care for her, but its never been a favorite style of music of mine...

What style of music would you call it, at least generally? (I had noticed a bit of variety from track to track.)

Oh, you're taking stats? Holler if you need help.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I quite possibly will. (: This will either be one of the easiest or one of the worst maths classes I've ever taken.

That's what I love about you, Mattheson. That eternal fount of optimism.

Hey, a significant portion of the last fifteen years of my life has been consumed by taking and/or using stats. I'm just being realistic. ;)

So far, every new concept is greeted by the following steps:

1. Oh, I get it.
2. No. No, I understand the theory but the practise makes no sense.
3. Wait, *how* am I supposed to arrive at the solution again?
4. **Get docked after forgetting to draw a graph, or label units, or show work, or some fiddly bit like that**
5. This makes no sense at all.
6. This continues to make no sense. And my homework is due tomorrow morning.
7. I'm screwed. None of these words mean anything to me, and I can't perform the functions. I can't remember the steps of the procedure, and also I can't remember how to make my calculator do that.
8. Why have I not withdrawn yet? I'm going to fail out.
9. Oh, I get it.

Yep, that's about right.
