It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....
Yes, it's true. The weather's starting to actually get a little cold in the mornings, and I'm trying to pretend that I don't mind that I can't afford to buy people presents. It must be getting close to Yuletide.
In honor of which, I have released this year's Christmas CD. It's basically last year's model with a couple of new tracks added.
Slouching Toward Bethlehem
Father Christmas -- The Kinks
St. Stephens Day Murders -- The Chieftains, with Elvis Costello
Winter Wonderland -- Lavay Smith and the Skillet Lickers
Twelve Days of Christmas -- Doug and Bob McKenzie
Santa's Beard -- They Might Be Giants
It's a Wonderful Life -- Fishbone
Baby, It's Cold Outside -- Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen -- Loreena McKennit
Transylvanian Xmas -- Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper
I Am Santa Claus -- Bob Rivers
Happy Christmas (War Is Over) -- The Alarm
Nicholas Was... -- Neil Gaiman
Nightmare Before Christmas -- Danny Elfman
(Christmas Eve Montage and Overture)
Wise Men at the Manger -- Monty Python
A Christmas Carol -- Tom Lehrer
Santa's Got a Brand New Bag -- The Bobs

There are gifts you could probably come up with which cost very little--copies of your CD, coupons for 'future services' like a free backrub or garden clean-up. Something which takes your time and thought, but not your money.
Don't beat yourself up that your financial situation doesn't allow you to "keep up with the Joneses". It's a losing game. :}

Something that I do every year is cook something to give people. Inexpensive, festive, and people like it. Past years I've made things like rolls of personized ( their favorite ingediants) cookie dough, that I freeze in "logs" in wax paper and they can slice and bake at will. Rice crispy treats in festive shapes.. Jello shooters.. dried apricots dipped in chocolate.. This year it'll be bags of home-made carmel corn. :) Feel free to use any of the ideas if you like.
