on the cover of People magazine in the drugstore today: Elton's Baby!
With the same slightly hysterical enthusiasm they might use for Katie's baby, or Sookie's baby. People magazine thinks famous gay people are just like straight famous people. No "Elton's Fabulous New Accessory", no "Gay Elton's Baby". (Of course, there was also no "Sir Elton" but what can you expect from a bunch of Yanks whose business is centered on fostering a false sense of intimacy with celebrities?)
Anyway. The nub of my gist is that seeing gays treated like actual people cheered me unreasonably. It may be painfully slow, but we're winning.
