My girlfriend is very sweet to me

In conversation, she uses the phrase "and, you being you..." rather than the phrase "and, you being a great big freak who resents change and takes it as a personal affront when the inferences of a word shift...".

Primarily because I only mean the "takes it as a personal affront" part of that. Also, I always envision the sentence as "... and you, being you ..."

I haven't noticed a huge resentment towards change, but I suppose the litmus test will be whether you resent the change in comma location or not.

Pfft. That's not change, that's a difference of semantic interpretation. So long as the clauses agree after the comma, I think we can agree to disagree.
