It could be worse

I may have been disappointed in the radio station's performance, but I still have enough loyal listeners that I'm inside the top seventy out of 374 'Freeform' genre stations. (:

Also? I pretty much played Dragon Age all day today. (Still in Orzamarr! Send a rescue party!)

Orzamarr takes forever, and the dwarfs are a reprehensible lot. I'll send cookies.

I'm writing my update now, which can be summed up as "Zahara says 'dwarfs suck'."

When are your shows? :)

Actually, my shows are on *all the time*. Internet radio at Live365 means my three hour program runs 24/7 until I swap it out with another one. (:

radio commentary

Pop, Vol. 1 is not as coherent as St. Valentine's Day. I find the stylistic jumps between songs to be jarring. Granted I'm not interested in North African/Arab influenced pop music. I think you overreached on this one.

Your intros are much better this time. Suave, sleek, sexy. However, they are at a *much* lower volume than the tunes. Equalization needed.

Yeah, pop is an eclectic category. I had considered compartmentalizing, but the general response from people is that they didn't want to hear too much of the same sort of song in a row.

Volume was a concern. However, this time I wasn't wrestling with the after effects of pneumonia. (:

I meant to ask--You found St. Valentine's and Christmas both more coherent? (I'm curious, as both of those were arranged thematically by content rather than musical style.)

I did not listen to Christmas. (Sorry, I wasn't as hip four months ago as I am now.) Saint Valentine's was better organized. A warped, twisted view on love. Very satisfying counterbalance to Hallmark.

Popular really is not a musical style. It is a social commentary on a particular musical style. Thus, the label "pop" has jumped from genre to genre through the last century. Pop through the decades does not have any unifying musical features. No instrumentation, harmonic basis, etc.

Thank you.
