Science Fiction Double Feature

I am at this moment flipping through channels and discovered ON AMC WHICH STANDS FOR 'AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS' this classic gem starring Nick Brendan--Pinata:Survival Island. It is about, I shit you not, an island cursed by a demon contained within a pinata.
So wrong. In so many ways.

And as the second half of the double feature, The Faculty. With Robert Patrick, Salma Hayek, Bebe Neuwirth, Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, Famke Janssen, Jon Stewart, and Piper Laurie.

Anti Movie Classics

AMC, several years ago, abandoned classic movies in favor of cheap garbage. This angered just about all the channel's devotees, but increased its ratings ever so slightly. Economics says they'll never go back. Turner Classic Movies still shows actual class movies, but, alas, it is not available everywhere. So while Ted Turner may have colorized the Wizard of Oz, at least he still knows what the word classic means.

That would explain a few things.
So I guess now they're just, like, Starz* but with commercials. And if Mountain View goes through with their plan to eliminate the analog cable service, we may end up with TCM after all. And SciFi network. (At last! I could see Mansquito!)

*Assuming Starz is still around. They were actually pretty cool. They were one of the first (only?) cable movie services to understand that we wanted to see things in WIDESCREEN DAMMIT. So they'd alternate showings between crop'n'chop and full size.
