I don't know where I'm going

With recent weather, I've been thinking about places I can go for a ramble; places like Muir Woods, Point Reyes and Mount Diablo. But I'm fairly certain there are places even closer--less than the hour or two drive these others are--that I could get to. Anybody know of anywhere they're especially fond of? I'd like to get out and get a chance to enjoy these places before it gets hot. Or possibly I can find a place that's nice even when it's hot at my house.

Castle Rock State Park? It's on Hwy 9 between Saratoga & Boulder Creek.

Not the wild woods, but on the way to the above: Hakone Gardens.

Ooo! And ooo!
Although with the former, I think I'll wait until at least next weekend when it's dried out a little. The Donner Falls trail at Diablo looked enticing in its reward, but I was a little daunted by the six and a half mile trail. I think the four and a half mile trail at Castle Rock would be an excellent reality check.

Oh I love it up there! Though I haven't been to Castle Rock in years.

I checked out your profile, we share an interesting people in common. ;-) The people that we know in common are interesting, because they don't (As far as I know) really know each other... Interesting! :D

pagan community, poly community, bbw/fa community, communities where 2 or more of these overlap. Makes sense to *me*. :-)

That does makes sense... Though three people on your list I know from OkCupid. One from Craigslist. Another from my distant past. Mostly, they don't each other. It's cool :D

LJ was being screwy, sorry about the double comment ;-)

That would be cool. I want to take a trip to Hakone; it looks like a place I might buy a membership to. (Ten trips in a year pays for it.)

I don't know that I've been there.... I can't place it and I'm too lazy to google! :D

What's the weather like in Cali?

It's about 30 degrees with major wind gusts of about 20 mph here. I think today was the second day of the wind advisory. I constantly ask myself why anyone decides to live right by Lake Michigan...

This weekend we've had sun, sleet, hail, rain, wind gusts and just general overcastiness. The weatherbeasts are calling it 'unseasonably cold' but the hills are still the lovely spring green and the orange trees are still fruiting.
Soon we should enter into the warm and pleasant stretch that the bay area is famous for, and I want to get out and do some hiking before we get into the 'hot' triple digit times.
I spent some time in Chicago, and all I can say is it's occasionally better than Buffalo. (:
