Pennsylvania six five thousand

A posting to talk about random stuff so I don't talk about the stuff that's really on my mind.

My friend Greg's recent thoughts on the War on Terror. And while I expect many people are tired of politics, I feel that his reasoned and even handed approach is a soothing balm to the hysteria and rancor that passes as 'political discussion' today.
Enh. Just go read it.

I'm trying to put together a playlist of songs that make me think of the ocean. If you have suggestions, especially suggestions that I already own, comment here. (I made my first iTunes smart playlist for this! Woo!)

Two weeks until the big holiday trip. So the next two weeks I will need to finish all the prep work for the entire time I'm gone. Which will be inconvenient and busy, but I'll survive. Plus there will be Shakespeare as an incentive.

This Sunday there will be books and Luc Besson. Next Sunday there will be hot water. Things could be worse.

Glad to be of service, and thank you for the link. I expect a more coherent essay on the subject will come along later after I have had time to rearrange it a couple ways to see what works better.

Be well, sir.

Hot water (see "You're In)

Would you happen to know what time the hot water is happening? I've forgotten.

I have one o'clock down on my calendar. I can call and verify it though.

OMG, love the new icon!

I do too! I found the photo on the baaaaaby animals community. I needed the emotional lift. I thought there was some sort of 'ded from the kyoot' community but I wasn't able to find it.

Almost all of Sinead Lohan's _No Mermaid_.

Hee. Yeah, I put the title track on the list, but I should maybe listen to the whole album again.

Peter Murphy's "Deep".

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2006-09-17 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I think I have 'Deep Ocean Vast Sea' on there, but again I could listen to the whole album again in case I missed something. (:
(I did smart searches for 'Ocean', 'Sea', 'Mer', 'Salt' and... I can't remember but I think one or two more terms.)

Oh, and

last weekend we went to Ashland and I saw _Cyrano_, _King John_, and _Jeckyl and Hyde_. The last two on the same day, which was kind of heavy. All three excellent, but do NOT miss J&H.

**SQUEEE!***
I have tickets to all three! I was really iffy about KJ and J&H, and so I ended up getting a membership so I could go on a waiting list for them.
**dancie**
Two weeks! I have to wait two more weeks! So did you see Scott?

I saw Scott! and Shannon! and bought them dinner! and got Elfin to work on Shannon's shoulder, which produced amazing results, but ask her. :-)

Yay!

Also, the title char in Cyrano was understudied. Quite good, I only caught one break, but don't go up expecting to see the advertised lead (I heard his mother was dying & so he had to leave.)

Thanks for the warning. I don't know who the advertized lead is, so I hadn't got my hopes up too high, but still. (:

Lucinda Williams - Ventura

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hrm. I don't know that one.

It's from one of her more recent albums (World Without Tears, I think?). Poke me on AIM when I'm home and I can hook you up.
