It's rock and gold

The once and future housemate, because she has had to listen to me constantly complain about how computer role playing games have two too many words in the title, got me Dragons Age as an early birthday gift.
Perhaps also because she felt I had too much free time on my hands.

Because I'm already at the twenty-four hour mark on the game play clock, and despite wrestling with the interface at times I'm really enjoying it. I have no concrete evidence, but I get the impression that my game play actually does affect the story. The scenery is gorgeous, very LotR, and there is at least the beginnings of nuance in my dialogue choices. And I'm making sure that every time an NPC leaves the party, I take all their stuff before I lose control of their inventory. Because I'm a mercenary even if my character isn't.

(Me, a Grey Warden! Who'd have thought?)

*giggles*

If it'd help, I could tell you which NPCs won't or are unlikely to leave your party (the big non-spoilery hint is: look for the Approval bar. At least in Origins). Because, yes, Daveth and Jory dying made me squawk a lot. :)

More than dialogue choices, your in-game decisions can have ripple effects on other game choices, but mostly, what happens at the end. :) And since BioWare is about your decisions carrying forward...your decisions now might impact DA2. :)

At this point, I'm using Daveth and Jory to figure out how to use tactics to not get me killed, and they've pissed me off enough that I might welcome my new DarkSpawn overlords if they promised to dispose of both of these newbs in a painful fashion.
Gotta go to bed--big battle tomorrow morning! Plus, Duncan will want these documents I found.

Whoops. 24 hours into the game, I figured you'd gotten through that part--didn't realize I was spoiling you. :(

This made me lol. At work. Whoops. :)

You really do need your beauty sleep before the big battle!

(I have comments, but now I must refrain :)

No worries--I'm counting the 'party wipe start over' time instead of the game counter for the 24 hours, so it's misleading.
Yeah, I met the hot witch chick in the fishnet bra with the fat attitude, and thankfully she didn't dump me off back in the wilds because we were pretty beat up.

I wouldn't have minded if they had turned Jory into a toad at that point. Sallow-faced bastard.

Morrigan's fantasy-chick attire is pretty funny. But she's voiced by Claudia Black, so that makes everything a-ok. :)

(Also? Do not play with ashes. Not as fun as advertised.)

Dude, this game has serious wom-wom issues. I had to tell S-- that story during Awakenings. :)

The gits promised me wishes, and I had to wish that the damned thing would stop beating on me!

(BTW, if you want you can IM me. I don't know if it'd be easier or not, but I'd be able to see replies more easily. Plus, I'm seriously bored and not wanting to be at work. Talking DA with you realtime would be much more entertaining.)

I would, but I've got an appointment at the bank in half an hour. If you're around when I get back, though...

I'll probably be going to lunch around 3pm ET, but I should be here before then and back around 4! :)
