I'm supposed to go to a themed masquerade style party. And the theme is New Orleans.
I suck at thinking of costumes. And this is why I hang out with clever people. You should suggest ideas, especially if you're vaguely familar with my wardrobe.

Errr... when is it? I think you've rather missed Mardi Gras and have now fully proceeded into Lent. (Do not pass 'Go', do not collect $100.)

It's the first. And Mardi Gras is specifically stated as a possibly costuming influence. They're .... sort of an anti-Lent coalition.

I vote cassock. French = catholic, right? Say you hunt vampires or perform exorcisms or are doing research on zombies for the pope if you need extra flavor. Howzzat?

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm strongly leaning that way, especially since very soon it'll be too damn warm to wear that thing anywhere anyway. (:

Tell them they're all sinners for partying during Lent, and offer attonement spankings! And preach the evils of crawfish in the gumbo... er, I mean homosexuality. (It's all Leviticus, right?)

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's all one thing. (:
Currently poking around online for a collar, which that cassock has been missing for years. Shoppingu!

Well, that's probably a better idea than my first thought, which was to dress as a giant Mardi-Gras-bead-adorned pair of naked tits. =D

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I do have quite magnificent tits...

[identity profile] roseneko.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I was thinking comically-large papier-mache ones, but that works too I guess. :D

You seem like the sort of fellow who could pull off a pretty good Baron Samedi... Got a suit and a top hat and some skull face makeup?

But my knowledge of Mardi Gras is not mad and l33t, so.

Hrmmm. Is the Baron usually in a tux? Time for Google Image Search!
I'd have to shave, though...
See you tonight!

as a side comment, I saw some very inventive costumes at the mardi gras right after katrina. standouts were the blue tarp wearers (for all the blue tarps on damaged roofs), and the red-tape wearers.. there were also folks dressed in garbage bags with little plastic flies glued to them (toxic fridge contents), that kind of thing.

might be kind of downer costumes though.

The red tape idea is tempting.
Especially if I can get my hands on a FEMA jacket/shirt/hat...

I'd have pegged you as Baron Samedhi.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. That's two votes. (:

[identity profile] yami-mcmoots.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Naked - except for beads.

[identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hrmmm. That may be how I end the night, but I don't know if I'm ready to start the night that way on my first party. (:
