Dragon Age--The tower! Rapunzel! Rapunzel!

I'm getting a firmer grip on combat. Now it's more like driving a car with loose steering, soft brakes, manual transmission, and several large friendly dogs roaming the cab. There were *no* party wipes today. We plowed up the tower, and I managed to convince the party, from time to time, that pulling one or several bad guys and dealing with them in small chunks was more fun than rushing in to take them all on at once.

And after all the ominous warnings about the Ogre? I kept him busy chasing the magus around while the combat monkeys beat him dead. And despite warnings from the Codex, he did not rise up from his deathbed and crush us in his wrath. However, I totally did not see the betrayal at Ostragar coming. I have the feeling that he saw something we didn't, or at least I think that would make a cool story. I've picked up Morrigan, although she's rapidly losing interest in me because I'm helping people in town. Plus, I asked the crazy priestess into my party. (I can't wait. This is going to be fun!)

Oh! And I also have a dog now. I named him Cuddles. (:

Um. Lots happened as far as exposition, and I've entered the world map.
Do Chantry jobs gain you experience or just cash? And why don't I have any flasks? They seem to be neccessary for any herbal or poison crafting. Also, I need to figure out how to use things. I'm certain it's a simple process. Plus, I have no idea how to get to 'camp'. There's probably a button to click or something.

When you go to the world map, up in the top right corner will be a separate location labeled "party camp". Click on that and you will go to ... wait for it ... party camp. :)

Not all ogres come back from the dead. In fact, most of them don't. The ones that do, however ....

AFAIK, Chantry jobs get you both exp and cash.

You have to buy flasks from a merchant who has them. You also need the recipes for whatever you're making, plus whatever ingredients the recipe calls for.

I named my first dog Ares, Dog of War. Because I'm silly.

I helped! :)

Yes, dear, you're very helpful. *pat*pat*

*That's* why I hadn't seen it yet. (:
I don't suppose there's a right-click option to cut the bugger's head off once he's down. Or is it assumed that I've blithely forgotten that whole 'not really dead' thing?
Also, weird that I hadn't seen flasks yet. Maybe they figured I didn't need them.
I suppose, to continue that spoonerism/reversal theme, my next dog could be Sera.

I think the quartermaster in Ostagar sold flasks. But otherwise, the dwarf on the road will have an unlimited stock, once you get out of Lothering and into the not-exactly-linear portion of the game.

S-- covered most of your questions. I am very pleased you managed to get through the first ogre relatively unscathed!

My first dog was 'Doug', because I had just watched Up. The subsequent ones have been variations on the word 'Dog' in various applicable languages. Because I am a geek. 8)

Honestly, even before I'd read the codex, I stood next to him thinking "He's going to get back up in a second, isn't he? Because this was way too easy. Or Zombie Ogre. Or maybe backup comes swarming out of the depths. Or rocks fall, and everyone dies."

And oh! At one point in combat, I did say "God damn it! It's like playin' cards with my brother's kids!"

LOL. (Took me a couple of read throughs to remember where that came from. Helps that I just saw the movie on Friday :)

It really can feel that way sometimes, but I swear, it gets better as tactics improve.

Plus, I don't think that's the exact quote.
And I just want to say--cashing in Circle Mage and Tower Guard (ESPECIALLY Tower Guard) for Morrigan? It's like the Thornton trade all over.
Alistair no longer dashes off and gets himself killed in single combat. Dog backs him up nicely. And Morrigan just drops grenades on anybody in sight.

I think if it's not the exact quote, it's awful damn close!

*dies*

Comments like this? This is what I miss. :)

But yay! I'm glad combat seems to have sorted itself out. :)

I'll be on YIM tomorrow at work and more available'ish if you're around. I actually played for a couple hours tonight, woohoo. Although the character that is closer to the end than the middle at this point. (I have two other characters, one of whom is just about to head into the Tower of Ishal, and another one that has just finished going and talking to the mages, so is only a little ahead of your character. Whose name I don't know!)
