I call upon people with brains, for I have none.
Writing a fanfic about a modern day character, a fourteen year old guitarist with an affinity for the Smiths, who is called upon to perform a love song. However, the Smiths are not a great source for love songs. So I ask you, my musically adroit readers: What sort of love song would a guitarist who loves the Smiths find attractive?

As I will not be available for most of Friday, consider this IFIAYAQD!

The only thing I can think of is Lovesong by The Cure.

You know, I was just going to say "smartarse" and move on.
But now I'm starting to dig the idea of "you're so fucking special" in an Edinburgh accent.

I'm not sure I get a vote on this one. :) But you could go with a song by Modest Mouse. However, I don't know many songs by Modest Mouse, except the one on Rock Band 2. :)

I hope you won't be surprised if I say Ain't No Cure For Love, although I'm imagining it being played at, at least, double speed, which is more speed metal than The Smiths, but that's just where my head goes.

Depending on whether he loves or hates the modern emo music that is arguably heir to the same niche, maybe Bright Eyes. And the ones that pop to mind from him are "I Woke Up With This Song in My Head..." which is either a love song or a breakup song depending on which eye you close when you look at it, or "Lover I Don't Have to Love" for the more ironic bent.

Hell yes you get a vote. (:
Which one is on RB2? I've got Ocean Breathes Salty and Satin in a Coffin. I don't know as either are love songs.

Wow. Okay, so the reason I'm not going with the Smiths is because when Morissey sings about love, it's darker than I think I want my fourteen year old when he's serenading his first crush. (:

Ocean Breathes Salty. Which yeah, not really a love song. :)

I decided that Marston taught him "Faster". (:
Definitely a poppy love song.
