An Infinite Number of Monkeys

Part Two.
There's still the acrid/citrusy note in the bottle, but it quickly vanishes on the skin, and the leather quickly rises, warm and dark.
I'll use it sparingly because (a) I hear it's a chick magnet and (b) much like the anise pastilles I like, it's apparently been discontinued. So I'll want to make the sample last a while.

La Belle au Bois Dormant: Plumeria and white pear, Damascus rose, tuberose, magnolia and evening dew.

This is nice. I'm getting the magnolia, the rose and a hint of the sweetness of the pear. (If I knew what plumeria smelled like, I might get that too.) It's very light and relaxing--there was none of the heaviness I was expecting when I saw magnolia and rose. I approve.

High Desert--today was Coyote layered over Diamondback. Which was nice, but not as nice as just Coyote.

In an attempt to find something to do with the 'vaguely sweet' Diamondback, I took it and Doc Constantine and dabbed a little of each on, calling the results "Doc Rassles a Snake".
Which turned out much like you'd expect--a sort of a sweet version of Constantine.
I should try instead tricking it out with something like Casanova, something I wasn't crazy about and might do with a little sweetening. I suppose that one would be called "Trouser Snake".

Today's smell is Doc Constantine, the other bottle of the soon to be discontinued Carnival Diabolique line that I bought. I managed to keep most of it in the bottle this time, at least.
The website says: Sheer musk, cedar smoke, fir needle, black amber and leather.

It's very dark and spicy. I'm getting the smoke note, and liking it. I may have to pick up another bottle before this goes away.

Calico Jack, on the website, is full of manly smells.
Sea air, rough musk, waterlogged kelp, worn leathers, and salty wooden floorboards of a pirate ship.
What I'm getting here is a meadow of sunshine and flowers near the seaside that somebody has frolicked through and lightly dusted with baby powder.
It's nice, but it's really not me.

BPAL's Deep Ones is sharp and green and on me is rather bitter. I gave it to a coworker for whom it works much better.

Severin: In the bottle and wet, all I get is a light citrus note. Not that I object, but the online description says 'black teas and and leather'. As it dries, I begin to get a hint of the leather. The scent is very subtle--only people who get close are going to notice it. I've tried this one before, and didn't recall the results. This may be why; it's nice but not particularly memorable.


EDIT:
Tersa suggests that the citrus note I'm getting is likely bergamot, since one of the teas is an Earl Grey. (I had no idea. I may have to try an Earl Grey now.)

The BPAL order came in today--much quicker than expected.
There were the ones I ordered:
Mead Moon, Doc Constantine and Western Diamondback in the big containers and Black Forest, Antikythera Mechanism, Calico Jack, Casanova, Dee and Golden Priapus in the imps.
There were also a buttload of random gift imps:
Kumari Kandam, La Belle au Bois Dormant, Rakshasa, Black Lily, Satyr, Deep Ones and Severin.
They must think I'm really going to like Kumari Kandam because I got two of them. (:
