cyranoToday is the sick day I can't really afford to take, but I need to go to a doctor and make sure that I don't have SARS (which stands for 'That Mutant Hong Kong Death Cold').
Last weekend, in honor of Chicago having become the first musical in decades to win Best Picture, I put together a new mix disc. Go me.
Disturbing news nugget: The PETA's case against the 'Happy Cows' commercials (they feel that California cows are really not that happy) has been thrown out of court. That's not the disturbing part. The disturbing part is that it wasn't thrown out for being an idiotic waste of the court's time. It was thrown out because the court feels that since a government agency is responsible for the commercials, they're not liable to the 'Truth in Advertising' laws. That's right, kids. Legal precedent that says 'Hey, the government is totally allowed to lie to us and not be held responsible'.
And G-Bu actually appears to be taking steps to avoid civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. It's possible he really means it when he says he wants to give the Iraqis a chance at a better life. (This is regardless of what I think of the odds of that happening.) So, G-Bu, if this is not what you have in mind, I will try not to invest too much hope in the plan so that you can't disappoint me too much. And please finish this job before you restore democracy to Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Baby steps! Baby steps!

Date: 2003-03-28 11:02 am (UTC)Ok, so I'm disturbed about the court thing too. Will someone debate that? I can't imagine *all* courts would agree with that.
I'm wondering where Syria is on the list. Now, that's a police state. Don't forget, though, the "list" is Iraq, Iran and North Korea. And they know they're on the "list", too.
I sure hope G-Bu, as you put 'm, isn't just pushing for the civilian safety thing just for world opinion. Then again, the Seige of Baghdad may make that tricky...did you catch any of the Blair and Bush joint press conference yesterday? I may disagree with him, but damn, I wish Blair was our president. He's so articulate, and he doesn't talk down to you, and doesn't look so blatantly like he's lying.
