Dragon Age--Holy Crap Endgame!

"Dear Diary: Today Anora was a weasel and Loghain bloviated. Today, Loghain was cleaved in half and Anora was sent to the tower never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

So yeah. Alistair finally came through for me. I threatened to ground him. He chopped Loghain in half, which was satisfying. I made him be king, but I did not make him marry Anora. And then I made him have hot ritualistic sex with Morrigan, which was a surprisingly hard choice. I think mostly because Alistair's kid is heir to the throne. But I don't think Morrigan gives a wet fart about that. So give her an Old God, why not? We really can't afford to lose Alistair or me at this point.

And I have two invisible companions at Denerim--the ghost of Loghain and Oghren the Phouka. Starting to get a little creepy around here. So I had the ghost of Loghain man the defences, and I took Alistair and two mages in with me. (One healer, one battle mage.)

And apparently, in the Alienage, I forgot how to take healing potions because I am deader than some doo doo, TPK special delivery. At least I don't have to deal with the moral after effects of getting all those elves killed by putting green recruits in harm's way.

And we'll start again from the city gates next time.

How'd you end up with ghosts and invisible companions? Some bug?

I guess so? I mean, Oghren *never* was visible, I was always talking to thin air when he showed up. I guess they didn't think Alistair had it in him to put down Loghain, but I knew how he felt about Duncan so I was completely unsurprised.

Tip for defending the Alienage: area effect spells are your friend. I put a mage up on the gate platform and had her hit the darkspawn with a 1-2 punch of blizzard followed by tempest. It was quite effective at whittling down the horde to something manageable. Oh, and crushing prison is awesome for fighting ogres, as is glyph of paralysis.

I love me some crushing prison. It puts the enemy out of combat *and* does damage.

Tip for defending the alienage. Templars. Since you probably don't have templars, go for dwarves.

Yeah my first playthrough I really needed it outside of fort drakon. Sadly the mage army hits really hard but then the mages all fall over so you have to be careful how you use them.

No, you always get 4, but each faction has 2 possible armies. Hm. Except Redcliffe, actually. I think they only ever have redcliffe soldiers.

I take that back. You always have dwarves; golems are an extra perk if you save Branka.

I save my mages for the last bit. They're squishy, but distance guys are super helpful at the very end.

I figured 'fighting a dragon' would be an excellent time for ranged attacks. Like magic missiles. We'll see how well it turns out. (:

The Alienage fight is hard, and even on my super easy playthroughs, I have to call an army out for that bit. :) (It looks like everyone covered everything else).

Those are super interesting bugs you got going on there. The ghost of Loghain, though... o.O

I realized after further contemplation that looking at your final save file may be the better bet. That way I don't have to look at it twice. :)
