You know that awful crushing feeling when, in an intimate moment, you call a woman by another woman's name? It is not reduced when you do it in a pool with an audience of your peers.

In other news, now that the convention is wrapping up, it's time to turn my energy to more important matters. Matters like Do I go to ACUS with Doctor Pooh, or Hundred Aker Torchwood? And Do I continue the Weird West games with Grateful Dead references in the titles?

Weird West Games with Grateful Dead titles

Moar please!

Mercy Jo wants to find that monster that excretes gold in California.

I vote for......."Crazy Fingers"...oh think of the inspiration (evil hand!!).

So swift and bright
Strange figures of light
Float in air

Who can stop what must arrive now?
Something new is waiting to be born

Dark as the night
You're still by my side
Shining side

Gone are the days we stopped to decide
Where we should go
We just ride

I vote for Weird West at ACUS. Pooh will fly much better at ACNW. And if we set your room up right, you could have a semi-creepy room for ACUS in a night slot (say, slot 4 or slot 8). :)

You definitely should run Beggar's Tomb II.

I totally added you.

Kath would be very put out if I didn't run Weird West in November, I think. But you're probably right about Pooh (whether Dr. P or Torchwood) being better for NW.

I definitely should. I just don't know whether to use the Grateful Dead references or not. Or what to do for a setting.

She forgave me. But I still felt awful.

Since I don't get the Grateful Dead references, I have no opinion on them. For the setting? Let us do what we do in email, and I suspect you'll have plenty to work with by the time it's an issue.

You could run two games at NW next year. I know, scandalous! :)

And the next thing you know, I'm an Iron GM, submitting my game requests the Tuesday after Con ends, running six games and hounding you to find out what your open slots are so that I can convince you to start playing in my Dancing With the Stars throne war game.
Oh no, I've seen how that ends. That way lies madness.

This is true. However, if it involves a "Mystery Conestoga" and y'all find a talking dog somewhere, I can't say I would be entirely opposed.

Well, I'm bringing back Lady Faiella's, Hogwarts, and Firefly for sure next year. I am less attached to Torchwood (even though it was an excellent game). I may be persuaded to only run 3 games next year, if there's lots of awesome to be had. :)

I want a talking dog. I would love him and hug him and call him George. :)

I occasionally consider not signing up for Hogwarts so that other kids can play.
But then Donna pokes me with her bludger and says "Don't be such a nancy, you stupid oik."

And perhaps I could bring the awesome.

And bribe him with Georgie Snacks?
(The thought of Pru as Lennie? Is really disturbing. Which fits *right* in.)

You know, I wasn't serious at first, but now that you mention it.... We have a bunch of episodes on the tivo-like substance...

It would totally be an interesting spin? Does the mighty benedict and his partner have a chance against the energetic Bleys & co? Or the stylish and incomparable Flora? It's not your typical throne war.

I deleted the episodes. But the concept is just silly enough to intrigue me. If you don't run it.... I might. Someone tell me what sort of things need to go into a Throne War game.

I think that if you give us a few waypoints along the route, we could probably manage to hit them. You MIGHT want to tell us which pieces you'd like to have left unresolved, though. Otherwise, you'll be up to Beggar's Tomb VII before the next ACNW.

Part of the reason I wanted to run a Hogwarts game is so that other kids can play. Especially other kids named "Dawn".

I have to figure out what I want to run at ACUS. If it's Hogwarts, I should get together with Dawn and sort out what system we want to use. Best Friends is... okay. It doesn't do well for bringing back characters and rewarding them-- an extra stat point is HUUUUUUUUUUUGE, and too much.

Normally? You pit people against each other in a classic. X holds the thrown but he is big and bad and Y and Z want it badly enough to bribe PC characters to help...or you go for an all out no one holds the throne and by the end of the game someone is going to have to get it. The last makes for people striving to be powerful but at the same time popular since if you kill everyone getting the throne that makes for a very bloody game--it's better to kill one or two in the way and convince the others you're the best for the job (and that they don't want it because if they do they too are on the hit list).

The crazy of a dancing with the stars throne war is you could run it as an all out contest via 'dancing with the stars' and either have the PCs play an elder or play the 'contestant' and they win if their Elder wins the throne. Or something. There is probably a lot of crazy ways to do it. Of course, someone should break out the 'forbidden dance!'.

What could be fun here though is giving each 'team' so many points for placement and making it so that the 2nd place onwards could change the results--the new king of Amber is by the public's choice:...

The first place team could try to get votes to, keeps everyone in the game and active.

So you can see why I might have some reluctance.
(And I know that Dawn is poking at alternate system work as well. You should definitely collaborate.)
