Coyote Cinema: Grandmaster
Sep. 13th, 2013 12:22 amThis is a stately and a majestic film. If you're looking for Iron Monkey, you're going to be disappointed. This is more like a realistic Hero. The atmosphere is impressive (the film spans from the thirties, through the Japanese occupation, and into the post-war years), very evocative. The story telling is... a little muddy, and there are quite a few characters I would have liked to see in a little more depth. And yes, it's slow. And I found the fight scenes confusing--I couldn't tell what was going on. But I'm old.
