Just out of curiousity, why are some authors asterisked?

(I was going to complain you hadn't linked to your Goodreads page, but I defeated my own inability to navigate there and found you. Yay me?)

Formatting from the copy/paste I did. I don't *see* any indication of why some are and some aren't, but I notice that all of Butler's books lack it and so I think it might have something to do with the author.

Oh, I got it, the hover text told me -- they're a Goodreads Author. (Ie, have a page themselves/are active on the site.)

I thought briefly it might be an alive/dead thing, but Chabon is manifestly still alive, thankfully.
