We dance underneath the radar
Sep. 20th, 2003 02:11 amSo I saw Underworld. I'm not putting up a spoiler tag because there's pretty much nothing to spoil.
The main premise is simple: Whoever wears the most black is the most powerful. The climax of the movie involves a character figuring out how to wear even more black than the crafty uber bad guy.
Unfortunately, everybody wears black, everything is black. This makes for a visually uninteresting movie which is a killer if you're planning on selling your film on flashy moves and visual appeal because your plot blows and has holes the size of my gigantic ass in it. It also sometimes makes it hard to see what's going on.
The core story, about loyalty and betrayal, wasn't unpalatable. And the protagonist wears shiny tight clothing with a long flowy coat which is going to sell well to certain markets.
All in all, Cyrano gives this film two wags out of five. Matinee showing or NetFlix is his recommendation.
