It's been the worst day since yesterday

This morning, finding myself able to get onto the housemate's computer, I poked around her shared files and found a Flogging Molly folder. I'd heard of them, and sat down with a couple of albums.
They kick ass. They're so cool. They are worthy successors to the Pogues. They make me want to smoke and drink Guinness and kick in shop windows with a pair of Doctor Martens. And I hate beer.

For once in my life, let me get what I want

Okay, now that I have fifty icon spaces available to me (thanks again to the wonderful and charming Ebonlock) I think it's time that I abused my authority and started a new meme.
Those artistically inclined, and even those not, should create an LJ icon that they think I would enjoy or that reminds them of me. Me me me. It's all about me today, kids.
Those not artistically inclined can just find a picture somewhere, and disregard its legality as an LJ icon. (:

And the times, they are a-changin'

A couple of weeks ago I started getting issues of The Nation again. (That leftist rag.) I was confused, as my subscription had expired in December, and I hadn't heard a peep from them except their continued pleas for me to renew Ebonlock's gift subscription. (Think of the children!)
So tonight I called the subscription department, and according to them they received a telephone call in late February requesting re-instatement.
Which is strange, because I didn't call them.

In other news, I was surprised to learn that Barak Obama, progressive future of the Democratic Party(tm), had joined with the entire Republican population of the House and seventeen other Democrats, to pass a tort reform bill that the president hopes will clear the courts of frivolous class-action asbestos suits.
