cyrano: (genius (kia))
I am once again frustrated by my ability to produce anything that I would call 'writing'. I am moving beyond the 'avoid it until I feel creative' tactics toward more aggressive plans. Today I tried sitting and staring at the monitor until my eyes bled. I'm working on the idea of putting in DVDs that either are filmed in a foreign language and played with no subtitles, or DVDs in english with a foreign language audio track so there's something that makes noise which will hopefully not distract me too much.
(I think there will be lots of deleting utter crap in my future.)
I failed in my attempt to purchase new underclothes, but now I have an understanding of the term 'full rise' and will not repeat my failure in the same fashion.
I think this weekend went well enough that I can use the term 'girlfriend' now, when I mean 'Woman who has agreed to have me as her long distance secondary'. This weekend my girlfriend came to visit, and it was very relaxing despite putting nearly 150 miles on the car. I took full advantage of my airline job to gain access to areas normally not granted to the general public. There was the flashlight tour of Winchester Mansion, where we found Dave and Mary who were on the tour three minutes after ours. (Quick review: I'm going to stick with the daytime tours. I can actually see all the cool architecture and furniture, the content of the tour doesn't seem different, and they have the more experienced docents/tourguides. But I did get a souvenir flashlight out of the deal.) Lunch with Greg and Michelle, because although during the week the restaurant is open by eleven-thirty it is not open until noon on Saturday and so Ellie and Angie, who had a very busy day planned, could not stay to wait until then. But they had many opportunities to eat over the course of the day so at least I didn't starve them as well as waste their time. There was a trip to La Fondue, to which I have not been in years and years. Still too hot, even without a group of 12, but the food is just as delightful and decadent. Even the calimari were surprisingly chewy and edible. (MMmmmmm mango sauce.) And there was our traditional staying up until four in the morning talking about 'stuff'.
(Congratulations on your promotion! And working things out with your husband! I love your handbag! And fingers crossed on getting the house livable.)
Tomorrow starts the six-day week, which will at least give me a big check. Possibly this week will also result in 7th Sea writing, FLtD writing, Firefly writing and special request writing. Okay, maybe one of those listed above. (Okay, maybe at least a consideration of one of them. Okay, maybe deleting utter crap in an attempt to bring about one of the above.)
