Girls on film

So I got a webcam for my birthday. Which means that installing the software today, three months later, is probably pretty speedy according to my calendar.
However, the manual that came with is not very helpful in regards to making it do what I mostly bought the thing for--broadcasting my handsome likeness to unsuspecting victims other IM chatters.
Does anybody have experience with this, who can give me pointers and possibly walk me through the process? (Not today on account of me being at work until like midnightish.)
