Her best friend is a skinhead chick
Aug. 1st, 2006 01:03 amV. social weekend. Saturday evening with Miss Friday, watching Alton Brown discover high cholesterol and heart disease, and then again Sunday afternoon when I came over and there was home made lemonade, zucchini bread and tomato sauce. Every vegetable within arm's reach was diced and stewed to Hell's gate and back again, and there was Jeeves and Wooster while the tomatoes cried their last.
Sunday evening the housemate returned and I had to leave off abusing the cats. There was a con report and relaxed socializing.
Monday--v. busy day. There was the Monday luncheon with Katchoo, whose bridesmaid I shall serve as in October. We went to Fiesta del Mar and enchilada'd ourselves while we discussed all the exciting things that had occurred in the past week.
Then there was meeting up with LJ-less Jeff, who introduced me to Banh Mi, Viet Namese sandwich like creations. I had a taro smoothie, which was *way* sweeter than I was prepared for. I may have to go with the avocado smoothie next time. Anyway, I gave him a copy of Don't Rest Your Head (the RPG I'm currently pimping--ask me for details) because he's a connoisseur of RPGs. He looked at the cover and said "Is this one of those horror games where you're a gothy super hero?" It was not a promising start, but he'll read it with an open mind, and I hope he'll enjoy it.
More housematey goodness, but only briefly, as we went to get her car from the shop and I got to wave to moonlightnrain before heading up to the City.
Because that was where I was meeting katie_in_sunset for coffee. I also got to meet a bunch of people from conniption.com or something like that, including a veritable squadron of Dans. Which was good, because without their help I certainly couldn't have kept the conversation up for a whole five hours.
For those who are curious, Katie is charming and well spoken and witty and well worth the drive in rush hour traffic even if she weren't gorgeous.
I can't keep up this kind of schedule for long, but this week (starting with the two lunches before work with two wonderful women) has been a lot of what I've missed since I started working the swing shift. I don't miss dealing with rush hour traffic (tonight's drive reminded me how much I don't) but I really miss getting to spend face time with actual people in real meatspace. I totally need to win the lottery. Somebody remind me to buy a ticket.
