About a year ago, some of you may recall me being very excited about a secret project. That project is running a little late, but it's at least online now, at http://beta.bonus.com
The site, as you may have noticed, is still in beta testing--there are bugs to be ironed out--but that doesn't mean that The Paranormals' first episode, New Moon, isn't perfectly readable most of the time.
It's school kids, vampires, werewolves, secret conspiracies and wobbly green Jell-O! How can you go wrong?

So this morning I was forcefully reminded of one of the most buh-inducing moments of the past six months.
Senator James Inhofe; surely, in order to become a Senator, he must have passed a battery of multiple choice and essay questions insuring his deep knowledge on a wide array of topics. And when asked to comment on the 'global warming kerfluffle' he was happy to weigh in on 'Fox and Friends'.
"If you stop and think about it, it's all about money," he started. Wow, James, that's... unexpected. Cutting a little close to the quick, what with your money from big polluters, and major contributors to this 'theory'. "I mean, what happens to the Weather Channel's ratings if, all of a sudden, people aren't scared any more?"
Um. Take that, Hollywood elitists and United Nations! We're onto your gigantic profit-making scheme! You didn't think we'd noticed you buying up shares of Landmark Communications, did you? The all-seeing eye of the Senate is upon you! Exxon isn't going to buy into your fear mongering any longer! No matter how many polar bears you bribe into making public statements!

Fuck it. Rocks fall, everyone dies.

So over at that new Bonus site where the Paranormals comic is, Ebonlock and various other insane people have made a strategy card game that dovetails with the comic. It's called Arcanom after... well, you'll find out after what. Winning games means you get to add cards to your deck, and I've managed to actually *not* get my ass kicked quite as badly as the first time Ebonlock demonstrated the game (34 to 0) once or twice in the far too many hours I've spent playing the game.

This is an image from the Avatar class, which (combined with Daniel) is the staple of my current deck. Luckily, I cannot play the game from work, because as it is I was up until seven this morning playing.

Oh! I almost forgot--I'm in the deck! Come and play me!

So after the financial aid seminar on Saturday, I did actually make it to the Gotham Black and White ball. And it was probably an hour before I had crippled myself. Muscles needed for waltzing and nothing else tend to atrophy if you haven't waltzed in years. My hip is still stiff--I'm hoping to stretch it out tonight at the gym. So I obviously need to add ballroom dance classes to my college courseload. I broke the singing in the car rule, but she started it.
I sort of recognized some people, and there was T and NERO folks, but mostly it was a room full of strangers. And, of course, my lovely companion. I took about fifty photos, many of which are pretty much crap. Adjusting to (a) this camera in particular and (b) any camera at all. The reaction speed was frustrating, especially trying to catch dancers rather than the backs of their heads. I got to meet some new people, and learned that I need to clean the lens. (:

EDIT: In unrelated news, Ted Haggard is now 200% straight, we are assured. Plus, he's off the junk. And Satan is coming over to pick up his stuff on Thursday and then he's never allowed back in the house.
