I made a deal with the boss where I come in early so I can leave early and get up to the City for the concert. Whoo.
And then I realize that I'll be spending about four hours on public transport and the mp3 player, which I left at work, has about an hour and a half of music on it.
So I bustle around, find the thumbnail drive that the housemate gave/loaned me, crawl under the computer, plug it in, put another hour and a half or so of podcast on it, crawl under the computer, unplug it, and stuff it in my pocket.
Unfortunately, I left the cord at home which would allow me to plug the mp3 player into the laptop which I would plug the thumbnail into. q:
There's always that one thing.

EDIT: Apparently there's always those two things. The hardware that I unplugged (the camera) to plug in the thumbnail was supposed to go to work as well, to take a picture of the chocolate flowers.

EDIT THE FURTHER: Would you believe three things? I forgot the mint for the cubicle windowsill again. This is the curse of getting up before ten. There is no brain.

So. The day started out crappy but the pendulum swung.
I buggered off from work early (cuz I came in early) and grabbed the Cal Train to the BART to the Great American Music Hall. It wasn't close enough to Borderlands Books to drop off tea, and of course I hadn't paid any actual *attention* to the directions Jake left me so it was only through sheer luck and her tenacity that we met up before the show. Which was good on account of my having her ticket.
But we found us a table and waited for the waitperson to come and take our order. And then the opening band came out--Bye Bye Blackbird, from Oakland because it's Local Music Month. I mentioned to Jake that referencing the Housemartins or the Posies or Guadalcanal Diary in my review would make me sound pretentious, so I was going to have to go with 'a well behaved Smithereens'. I liked them, but not quite enough to pay money to buy the CD.
And before Matt Nathanson showed up, our waitperson arrived. The kitchen was swamped, and apparently not paying a lot of attention because Jake had to send back her burger twice before they managed to get it right.
Which meant that we were upstairs eating and listening instead of on the floor waving lighters when he played Cheap Trick and Journey. But we survived. He did not, alas, rock the Jovi. Because all I owned of his were his covers. I have heard "I Saw" but I do not know where or how. Jake loaned me enough money to buy the new album (the only one they had on sale at the concert--hot off the presses, released today) and we opted not to wait for autographs.
