Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
Apr. 6th, 2008 04:56 pmI'd like to introduce you all to Sarah Vowell, my Pretend Celebrity Girlfriend. She was a college DJ, a rock critic for Rolling Stone, she's a history geek, an accomplished story teller, a best selling author and a card carrying geek.
I have never seen The Godfather, despite being a film major briefly and knowing a great deal about the storyline already. Sarah's very fond of the picture herself, and I'd always imagined that we'd curl up one evening in her flat in New York with some take out Italian and watch it together. She could pause the DVD just before all her favorite parts and tell me what was coming, and then pause it again after and tell me exactly what was so wonderful about each of them.
I'm watching it now, with the housemate. Sarah, please don't pretend to break up with me. I still love you, you know that. I made you a mix disc.
Also, I finally managed to get off my ass and take a bike ride that did not involve going to work. I took the Stevens' Creek trail down to the shoreline, and the wildlife refuge, and then I set off across uncharted waters to find Shoreline Amphitheater and home from there.
