Somebody else's Disappointment of the Day

Driving in to work on Hamlin, seeing a little brown woodpecker clinging to the metal post of a yellow diamond traffic sign, poised expectantly.

I wished I could pull over and get the camera out.

I'm not normally Christianity's biggest fan

This is a little chapel (or a shrine) south of Sierra Vista, in Arizona, Our Lady of the Sierras. I've only been there once, but I'm sad now because it is one of the casualties of the Monument fire. I am especially sad now that I didn't remember to take my camera when I went there. (Added: The Gallery appears to be working again, at least.) But, kind of like New Orleans, I'm glad I managed to visit first. And I'm planning to help with restoration, in what little way I can.
