3. 2. 1. Contact lenses

Day one of Project Oh God Oh God It's IN MY EYE went pretty well. I went to the eye doctor place, and they had me apply and remove the lenses three times so that they felt confident I could do it without somebody nearby to help. I apparently showed above average eyeball acumen, and finished that up pretty quickly. They said "The first time, only wear them a couple of hours, and then the next time a couple more. Like that." So of course, because of unusual circumstance, I had them in for four and a half hours. Overall, they were uncomfortable, just due to the constant reminder that there was something in my eye, but not painful. And I was constantly surprised--not by the clarity of vision, although that was good, but by occasionally noticing that I wasn't wearing glasses. No session today, because my eyelid is all abraded and stingy from yesterday.

black light sun, won't you come?

I'm working on some extra-game special effects for this AmberConNW, and plan to use a black light. If anybody has experience and would like to offer advice, or tips, or relate amusing stories, I would be pleased to hear them.

Coyote Cinema: 30 Minutes of Searchers

This one's a double feature because they're both short. Too short for spoilers.

The Searchers: Reminds me of why I'm not a John Wayne fan, despite my Western Renaissance recently. He's the biggest Mary Sue--he's always right, he's cooler than everybody, and he always has a smug condescending dismissal for anybody who forgets that.

30 Minutes or Less: Could be helped by the presence of a single likable character. The closest we get is Fred Ward, who's usually pretty awesome. Occasionally painful, but I did laugh a couple of times. (Yay for dye.)

Both float around one and a half to two wags.
