And because I must follow up the good news about books on sale with bad:
On Friday, I went to my credit card web page so I could cancel a recurring charge, and found that there were no data about my card. Which dismayed me, so I rang the 800 number. And they pish toshed and said Oh, don't worry about a thing, one of the people you did business with leaked sensitive information. We can't tell you who, so you could avoid doing business with them in the future, but we cancelled your card. There's a new one on the way, and we're honoring requests to the old for a reasonable overlap period.
I said hrrrr but I accept it for the time being, because I don't want the head explodey that goes along with delving into the matter.
Today I get email that potentially negative information has been entered into my credit report. Yes, you guessed it--the fact that my card was reported lost or stolen is Potentially Negative to my credit rating.
