Message in a Suitcase
Sep. 2nd, 2012 12:21 pmWe have landed in RWC, safe and sound.
When I am flying, I will often leave a note in my checked luggage for TSA/Covenant/whomever, being careful not to say something inciteful. Something like 'My suitcase says hi' or 'Careful--the underwear is dirty' or 'This luggage contains no sulfides and was not tested on animals'.
Largely it's to amuse myself and to give me an idea if somebody rifled my stuff and forgot to put a note in there.
Yesterday, in honor of Woody Guthrie's birthday, the note read "This machine loves fascists." Because I didn't want to use the word 'kill' for fear of upsetting somebody. However, it appears I upset somebody anyway. When I opened my bag, the note had received a distinctive one-hand scrunch and the handler had become so flustered that se forgot to leave me the (I assume it must be) legally required note that my bag had been opened.
