Things that are not as funny the next day as they were last night

Last night, the Daily Show's guest was a Supreme Court justice, and Amanda and I got to talking about how, with their schedules, they would have pretty limited windows for things like that. Once we established that they would have to all take their vacations at the same time, I surmised that they should also take them in the same place.


Which would be an awesome plot for an eighties flick.

And so begins the coming of age story of nine kids from around DuPont--a cross country trip to discover America, and to discover themselves. Justice Roberts is still half baked when they arrive, and can't even remember why he insisted on coming to Detroit for their two week holiday. But what he does know is that when the Emergency City Manager decides to close down the youth club, well that just ain't right. And so the DC9 decide to serve up some Justice, East Coast Style, with (what else?) a battle of the bands. The first place prize is just enough to save the youth club, and maybe buy Justice Scalia that sweet Stratocaster he's had his eye on since they arrived.
But what they didn't count on was local prep kid "Britches" Maroun taking an interest in the proceedings....
